Oceanscape
"Oceanscape" is a mixed media piece including materials ranging from acrylic paint, watercolor, stamps, wood panels, poly film, colored pencils and markers. It is 18"x24" on Bristol board and was completed in 2021.
It is not only an exploration of collected surfaces and materials, but also a look into the inconsistent yet beautifully cohesive nature of the ocean. With so many different parts that make up one whole, I wanted to translate the feeling of collective chaos and both the literal and figurative 'layers' of my subject matter.
Citrus
"Citrus" is a mixed media painting in the "Fruit & Flower" series, taking a looking at lemons and limes. Including a wide variety of materials such as gouache paint, colored pencil, oil pastel, stamps and real life limes. It is 18"x24" on Bristol board and was completed in 2021.
The "Fruit & Flower" series of paintings works to explore the relationship between different fruits in all of their stages of life from first blossom to final form. In this particular piece I worked to focus on both micro and macro elements of these fruits, showing the texture of the pulp of the fruit up close, while simultaneously zooming out to be able to experience the whole fruit in its finished stages.
Berries
"Berries" is a mixed media painting in the "Fruit & Flower" series looking at blueberries and strawberries. Including a wide variety of paint material such as acrylic, gouache, watercolor, paint markers and pens, and water soluble pencil. It is 18"x24" on Bristol board and was completed in 2021.
The "Fruit & Flower" series of paintings works to explore the relationship between different fruits in all of their stages of life from first blossom to final form. In this particular work I took inspiration from learning that blueberries are often pink until they are perfectly ripe, so to combine the feeling of incompleteness with the effort of trying to look at it in a more beautiful way, I chose to center much of this piece around them.
